HARROGATE, Tenn. – The LMU women's tennis team improved to 8-5 overall and 2-2 in South Atlantic Conference play as they blanked Mars Hill 7-0 Tuesday afternoon at the LMU Tennis Complex.
The duo of
Julia Valls and
Julia Loos got things going as they won over Sophia Pelaez and Haley Steinkamp 6-0 at the second doubles spot to improve to 10-3 on the season.
Johanna Delisse and
Kristin Vogel then improved to 3-1 in SAC play as they bested Evan Lake and Julianne Launay at the first spot by a 6-1 margin.
Amanda Dahlstrom and
Kiersten Waugh then completed the doubles sweep with their 6-2 win over Victoria Franklin and Emma Horner at the third spot.
All of the singles flights were won in straight sets. Valls defeated Lanay 6-1, 6-0 at the third spot for her tenth win of the year, while
Marta Pinol picked up career win number 51, tying her with former teammate
Angelica Solano for sixth on the LMU career victories list, as she downed Pelaez 6-1, 6-1 at the second spot.
Delisse then won the first set 6-0 and had to battle in set two for the 7-5 win to take not only the match at the first spot over Lake, but the match point for LMU. Vogel had a similar match at the fifth spot, defeating Steinkamp 6-0, 6-4.
Loos blanked Franklin at the fourth spot 6-0. 6-0 and Waugh won over Horner 6-3, 6-1 to finish the match.
LMU travels to Anderson Thursday for a key SAC matchup with the Trojans. First serve is set for 10 a.m.
