Match Recap: Women's Tennis |

Women's tennis bested by Bobcats, 6-1

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – LMU claimed the doubles point, winning the no. 2 and no. 3 flights, but in the end Georgia College won all six singles flights to claim the 6-1 win Saturday afternoon.

Lincoln Memorial gained the early advantage, winning the second and third doubles flights to gain the first team point. Kiersten Waugh and Amanda Dahlstrom defeated Irina Berklich and Jordan Bowie (Macon) 6-3 in the third flight, while Julia Loos and Julia Valls overcame Emilia Richter and Kim Yatribi 7-5 in the second. With the hurry-up rules in effect, the match at the first spot was halted at that point.

In singles action, the Bobcats swept all six flights, but the match at the fifth spot between LMU's Kristen Vogel and Paula Garriga was hard fought before Garriga prevailed 6-4, 6-3. The no. 1 flight was also a battle as Johanna Delisse fell to regionally-ranked Emilia Richter 6-2 in the first set but almost took the second set, falling 7-5 in the end. At the sixth spot Jordan Bowie won the first set 6-2 over Kiersten Waugh before Waugh battled back before falling 7-5 in the second set.

LMU falls to 6-3 with the loss and will next play at Catawba in the South Atlantic Conference opener next Saturday.
