GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – The Railsplitters won the doubles point and the first singles flight, but were unable to pull out the upset of 32nd-ranked Tusculum Wednsday afternoon as they fell to the Pioneers 6-1.
LMU falls to 8-9 on the season and 2-7 in South Atlantic Conference play.
Sebastian Colla and
Fabian Sjokvist defeated TU's Tim Klee and Manuel Almeida 6-4 at the first doubles flight,
Moritz Hoerner and
Jake Tuchmann bested Yago Fernandez and Jacco Mensinga 7-5 at the third spot to give the Railsplitters the doubles point.
David Segarra and
Iker Moure fell to Gabriel Yaguar and Tomas Almeida 7-5 in the second spot.
In singles play, Segarra picked up his 58th career win with his three-set 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 win over 62nd-ranked David Akinpetide at the first flight.
Iker Moure fell to Tomas Almeida 6-3, 6-4 in the second spot, Hoerner lost to Fernandez in the third flight 6-0, 6-3, and Manuel Almeida bested Colla 6-2, 6-0 in the fourth spot. In flight five, Vadzim Raitsou defeated Sjokvist 6-0, 6-1, while Yaguar won over Tuchmann 6-1, 6-2 in the sixth spot.
LMU closes out the regular season with a Senior Day match vs. Newberry. First serve is set for 2 p.m. at the LMU Tennis Complex.
