Sharfenaker and Campisano Rally the Railsplitters Past Alderson Broaddus

Freshmen Justin Sharfenaker (15) and Campisano (11) combine for 26 kills in straight-set victory on Wednesday night.

HARROGATE, Tenn. – Lincoln Memorial University's men's volleyball crew marched by Alderson Broaddus University in a straight-set win to mark 27 consecutive victories in Mary Mars Gymnasium on Wednesday night.

RAILSPLITTER RUNDOWN:
Alderson Broaddus took mark on the scoreboard first against the Railsplitters tonight for a quick 2-0 lead. LMU went on to take eight of the next 10 points to record an 8-4 lead after going on two of their four, three-plus point runs within the opening set. Freshman right side hitter Justin Sharfenaker (4) and freshman outside hitter Cole Campisano (6) did not hesitate to get comfortable as they combined for 10 kills just within the first set for the Railsplitters as they finished on top 25-18.

LMU compiled another series of runs throughout the second leg of action as they stayed within reach until redshirt-senior outside hitter NyJaee Washington and Sharfenaker rally the Railsplitters for five-straight points with help from a Battler error.

The Battlers contributed to an addition run for the Railsplitters after an attack error and bad set leading to LMU jumping ahead, 20-11. Campisano and Sharfenaker marked successfully once again with sets from junior setter AJ Risavy. Freshman middle hitter Vukasin Tuzlancic and Campisano teamed-up for a block that concluded the set at 25-13.

Washington marked four points after a pair of kills and aces in the final set for the Blue and Gray. Sharfenaker attacked aggressively in the final stanza marking seven points on a half-dozen kills and an ace to put another mark in the win column for the Railsplitters after taking the third set 25-15.

CAREER MARKS:
Sharfenaker contributed 15 kills, pair of aces and a block totaling 17.5 points and leading to a career-highs in respective categories.

Campisano recorded 11 kills which posted his career-high against Alderson Broaddus.

Washington posted a half-dozen kills, pair of aces and four digs marking a season-high performance for the redshirt-senior.
