WINGATE, N.C. – Lincoln Memorial University opened up conference action with a trip to #17/14 Wingate University on Saturday afternoon.
RAILSPLITTER RUNDOWN:
The Railsplitters faced a quick 5-0 deficit as the hosting Bulldogs outshot the Railsplitters 17-6 in the first quarter of play. Wingate netted five of their 10 shots on frame throughout the first 15 minutes. The Railsplitters split the face-off count at three-apiece and took the edge in ground balls, 12-11. The Bulldogs were perfect in clear attempts (8/8) and the Railsplitters marked six of eight.
At the nine-minute mark of the second quarter, junior attack marked his 17th goal of the season and the first goal of the day for the Blue and Gray to mark a 1-9 score. With 95 seconds remaining in the first half sophomore midfielder
Joe Conklin notched his sixth goal of the season, recording a 2-13 score leading into the break.

Chris Tucker to notch his eighth goal of the season within the first 90 seconds of the beginning of the second half. Cook tacked on another goal as he connected with Conklin to conclude the third quarter with a 4-15 score.

Sam Skousen put together three more goals within the final quarter to cap the defeat at 18-7.
THE KEEPERS:
WU – Edward Erickson marked nine saves and seven goals allowed on his time in net. Alex Cordero came in to close the contest for the Bulldogs and marked a pair of saves.
LMU – Jacob Brown got the start for the Railsplitters and totaled seven saves and 11 goals-against on the afternoon. Senior
Trenton Cameron totaled 11 saves and seven-goals against before freshman
Josh Hargrove came in to finish the time and marking a pair of saves for the Railsplitters.
TEAM STATS:
LMU trailed in total shots (67-22), shots on goal (36-18), ground balls (36-44), clears (25-26), faceoffs (13-15) and caused turnovers (1-11).
LMU LEADERS:
Skousen recorded two late goals for the Railsplitters in addition to marking an assist throughout the contest.
Cook contributed with a pair of goals on five shots with a ground ball on the afternoon.

Chris Tucker chipped in with a goal and an assist.
HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:
After today's setback, the Railsplitters fall to 0-7 in all-time head-to-head records against Wingate University.
