Lady Railsplitters Head To UVA Wise For Mid-Week Tilt

Look to continue recent winning streak

WISE, Va. - Coming off of a dominant home win against Mars Hill, the Lincoln Memorial University women's basketball team (5-3, 4-3 SAC) will take on UVA Wise (6-1, 6-1) on the road inside the David J. Prior Convocation Center this Wednesday, January 20 at 5:30 p.m.

Last Time Out
The Lady Railsplitters took on Mars Hill at home this past Saturday and came away with a clinical 82-50 victory. LMU was spurred by a huge first quarter that saw them build a 26-7 lead and never look back. The Lady Railsplitters held the Lions to just 24 percent shooting (14-58) and 13 percent from behind the arc (2-15). For the third consecutive game, Jordan Maney led the scoring charge for the third consecutive game as she finished with 19 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals. Lindsay Proffitt made five shots from downtown and had 15 points and five rebounds, while Lauren Flowers had 13 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists. Freshman Kassidy Kenny notched her season and career-high in points with 13 and added five rebounds while making all five of her free throws, and Lexi Kiser had a strong second half to finish with 11 points, four rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Grace Day held down the fort on the boards as she had a career-high 10 in the decisive victory.

Versus The Cavaliers
The Lady Railsplitters have a 22-5 all-time record against UVA Wise, including an 8-4 mark on the road. LMU has won 18 of the last 20 meetings, last losing on Nov. 15, 2017 on the road. Last season saw UVA Wise join the ranks of the South Atlantic Conference, and LMU won both games. With a win, the Lady Railsplitters will move to 3-0 all time in conference contests against UVA Wise.

About UVA Wise
UVA Wise is coached by Jamie Cluesman, who is in her 3rd year as the head coach of the program. Prior to becoming the head coach, Cluesman was an assistant coach at Shepherd University. Coming off a 12-16 (8-14 SAC) season, the team is 6-1 (6-1) so far this season. Five players are in double figures in the scoring column as Nia Vanzant leads the pack with 16 points and 5.6 rebounds per contest. She is followed closely by Caitlyn Ross, who averages 15 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game, while Kalee Johnson averages 14.6 points and a team-leading nine rebounds. Meg Crawford chips in 12.7 points and seven rebounds while Hanna Oliver adds 11.3 points.

Looking Ahead
LMU will come home in conference play and face Catawba on Jan.23. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
