HARROGATE, Tenn. - Coming off of a difficult road loss against UVA Wise, the Lincoln Memorial University women's basketball team (5-4, 4-4 SAC) will take on Catawba (4-0, 4-0) inside the friendly confines of B. Frank "Tex" Turner Arena on Saturday, Jan. 23. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m.
Last Time Out
The Lady Railsplitters took on UVA Wise inside the David J. Prior Convocation Center on the road this past Wednesday. Dressing just eight players due to injuries and illness, LMU put up a good fight but fell to the Cavaliers by a score of 78-63. Leading scorer
Lauren Flowers and
Lindsay Proffitt led the scoring charge with 14 points each and combined for ten rebounds, while
Lexi Kiser added 12 points, four rebounds, and three assists. Sophomore forward
Grace Day continued her excellent play as of late and recorded her first career double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Versus The Indians
The Lady Railsplitters have a 15-14 all-time record against Catawba and have won seven of the past ten matchups in the series. LMU lost both matchups last season, including a close four point loss at home on Jan. 11, 2020. Since the beginning of 2014, the Lady Railsplitters have dominated the series with wins in 11 of 15 contests.
About Catawba
Catawba is coached by Terence McCutcheon, who is in his 1st full season as the head coach of the program. Prior to becoming the head coach, McCutcheon was an assistant on the staff for two seasons. Coming off a 23-6 (17-5 SAC) season, the team is 4-0 (4-0) so far this season. Shemya Stanback leads a balanced attack offensively with 11 points, 7.7 rebounds, and four assists per game while Janiya Downs joins her in double figures with ten points and 5.7 rebounds. Marissa Bruce, Taisha DeShazo, and Lyrik Thorne all contribute heavily as they average between 8.3 and 9.5 points per game.

LMU will stay home in conference play and face UVA Wise for the second time in a week on Jan.25. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
