CHARLOTTE, N.C. – They kept it close for the first half, but Lincoln Memorial's men's soccer team was unable to keep it up for the second half, as they fell to Queens 3-0 Saturday evening.
Queens got on the board first, as they netted a goal in the 22
nd minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Railsplitter defense didn't allow anything else in the half, and trailed by only that goal at the end of the first 45 minutes.
The second half did not start well for LMU, as Queens scored two more goals early in the half to increase their lead to 3-0. They scored their second goal of the game in the 52
nd minute, and followed that quickly with their third in the 54
th minute.
Goalkeeper
Jackson Jalovec did his best to stop the onslaught of Royals shots, as he saved a career-high nine shots, including seven in the second half. However, the 20 total shots attempted by Queens was just too much to overcome, as three were able to find the back of the net.
The Railsplitter offense was unable to do anything against the Royals, as they only attempted three shots, none of which were put on goal.
August Harp attempted two of those shots, while
Diego Alvarado took the other.
Up Next
The Railsplitters continue their road trip, as they face Alabama-Huntsville in a nonconference match on Wednesday, before continuing SAC play next Saturday at Catawba.
