NEWBERRY, S.C. – The Lincoln Memorial women's volleyball program fell in game two of their six-game road stand to Newberry in three sets (15-25, 24-26, 19-25) on Saturday afternoon.
 
Katie Cardenas and 
Kristen Moehring led the Lady Railsplitters on the afternoon with nine kills each with Moehring posting a .529 hitting percentage. Senior 
Emily Walter tallied her sixth double-double of the season with 11 assists and 11 digs. Freshman 
Chloe Britton added 14 assists in the match.
 
Natasha Bannister paced the way for Newberry as she tallied 18 kills while hitting .378 for the contest. Three different Wolves tallied double-digit digs with Taylor Hall and Amanda Berecz both tallying 15.
 
The Wolves came out hungry as they jumped out to an early 6-0 lead. Keeping up their offensive pressure, Newberry was able to use multiple runs to increase their lead to 20-9. The Lady Railsplitters were able to cut into the lead with a four-point run, but the Wolves were able to step up and capture the first set, 25-15.
 
The second set was a battle that needed extra time to decide who got the set point. Lincoln Memorial got the first point of the set, but Newberry was able to take the lead. Battling back and forth, the Wolves were able to create some separation with a four-point run. After trading points, Newberry was able to use a three-point run to make it 21-15. The Lady Railsplitter did not go away quietly as they used a six-point run to even things up at 21 all. Trading points until a 24-24 tie, the Wolves were then able to connect on the next two attacks to win the second set, 26-24.
 
The third saw a beginning of trading points until the Wolves were able to use a five-point run to take a 13-8 lead. Lincoln Memorial was able to respond with a run of their own as they were able to cut the Newberry led to one, 17-16. Using another run, the Wolves were able to take their lead to 22-16, before closing out the third set with a 25-19 win.

The Lady Railsplitters will continue their six-game road stand with the SAC/Peach Belt Challenge beginning with USC Aiken and Lander on Friday, October 22 before heading to Georgia College for two matches against GC and Augusta.
