Lady Railsplitters Cruise to Victory over Emory & Henry

Kuehne records a career-high six steals and leads LMU with 17 points in the victory

EMORY, Va. – Going on the road for just the second time this season, the Lincoln Memorial University women's basketball program traveled to future SAC member Emory & Henry and came away with an 80-38 victory over the Wasps on Tuesday night.
 
The Lady Railsplitters got out to a hot start from the first whistle using a 9-2 run to jump out to an early lead. The Wasps got back to within five after two quick baskets from Chelsi Hudges. Junior Grace Day got in the action early as she tallied six points in the opening 10 minutes. A three-point bucket from junior Lauren Flowers at the :27 mark gave Lincoln Memorial a 16-8 lead going into the second period.
 
Lincoln Memorial used a 5-2 run to open the second frame to extend their lead to 21-10. Scoring went to a stalemate beginning at the 8:33 mark and going until the 5:24 mark on a free throw by Mikayla Kuehne. Using a 15-2 run, the Lady Railsplitters closed out the half with the lead, 33-12, over Emory & Henry.
 
The Lady Railsplitters high octane offense pushed their lead to 42-14 in the opening minutes of the third period. The Wasps answered nearly every basket Lincoln Memorial produced, but LMU went onto keep their double-digit lead heading into the final 10 minutes, 51-27.
 
Day continued her solid day as within the opening minutes of the fourth period, the Hershey, Pa., native drove in a layup and got the and-one, making the free throw to extend the Lincoln Memorial led to 54-27. The Lady Railsplitter offense shot 66.7 percent in the fourth to propel them to an 80-38 win over the Wasps.
 
Graduate student Mikayla Kuehne paced the Lady Railsplitters in the contest, tallying 17 points on 5-for-6 from beyond the arc. The McKinney, Texas native also recorded a career-high six steals and pulled in five rebounds. Junior Lauren Flowers tallied 12 points off the bench in the winning effort. The Lady Railsplitter offense shot 46.8 percent in the win while limiting Emory & Henry to 29.4 percent from the field.
