Women's Soccer Fall in Extra Time at SAC Quarterfinals

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Lincoln Memorial University women's soccer (7-7-2) team closed out their 2021 season Saturday evening in North Carolina, narrowly dropping a one-nil match to Queens in extra time at the South Atlantic Conference Quarterfinal.

The Royals and Lady Railsplitters fought back and fourth to the brink in a defensive matchup, as Queens finally converted a late-winner in the matches' 104th minute for a golden goal.

Queens took 14 shots Saturday evening, but a great credit to the Lady Railsplitter defense as only two of those shots found their way on target, sophomore keeper Isabelle Zukaitis saving one. LMU did well to place five of their seven shots on target, as the Queens keeper could not be beat on the night, saving all five.

Fabienne Loetscher, Graciela Palencia, Jessica Cravero, Rachel Taylor and Mariana Diaz's careers came to a close Saturday evening, as the senior Lady Railsplitter class combined for 42 victories together, including two SAC Tournament titles in 2018 and 2019.

The Royals of Queens will advance to take on Lenoir-Rhyne in the SAC Semi-Finals beginning next Friday.
