NEWBERRY, S.C. - Coming off a ten-day break, the Lincoln Memorial University women's basketball team (7-7, 6-7 South Atlantic Conference) will travel to Newberry (5-7, 4-7) Saturday afternoon in search of their eighth victory of the season. Coming off their best offensive performance of the season, the team will look to capitalize on that positive momentum.
Last Time Out
The Lady Railsplitters took on Queens on February 3 and dominated from the outset in the decisive 96-49 victory. Breaking the program record for made three pointers with 19, LMU led 33-8 after the first quarter and never looked back as they pushed their overall record back to .500.
Mikayla Kuehne led the charge with 25 points, eight rebounds, eight assists, and two steals, while
Jordan Maney also had 25 points and five rebounds. The two combined for 19-26 shooting in the win.
Lexi Kiser had an excellent all-around game with 19 points, four rebounds, six assists, and four steals, while
Lauren Flowers had 11 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists.
Lindsay Proffitt added 11 points seven rebounds, and five assists.
Versus The Wolves
The Lady Railsplitters have a 10-23 all-time record against Newberry. LMU defeated Newberry 66-56 in the opening game of the season and looks to complete the season sweep this weekend.
About Newberry
Newberry is led by Joanna Tincher, who is in her third year as the head coach of the program. A former standout at Francis Marion, Tincher spent time with Alabama-Huntsville, Converse, and Wofford before coming to Newberry in an assistant coaching role. Coming off a 16-12 (13-9 SAC) season, the team is 5-7 (4-7) so far this season. Courtney Virgo leads the team in scoring and rebounds as she averages 11.3 points and 6.8 rebounds, while Payton Cronen is also in double figures with 10.3 points and adds 3.9 rebounds. Four other players average between seven and nine points per contest.
