WINGATE, N.C. – The Lincoln Memorial University's women's lacrosse program falls to Wingate 14-3 on Sunday afternoon.
THE RUNDOWN
In the first 30 minutes of action, the hosting Bulldogs established a dominating presence as they secured a 12-0 lead over the Lady Railsplitters.
In the second leg of play, sophomore attack
Ali Van Der Ziel notched the first goal for the Lady Railsplitters of the half after successfully converting on a free-position shot. Van Der Ziel connected on two last goals within the final 5:44 of game time with dishes from senior attack
Erin DePaul and graduate attack
Julia Bain. The Lady Railsplitters edged the Bulldogs in scoring through the final stanza of action but still short for the setback.
IN BETWEEN THE PIPES
WU – Megan Biase allowed a lone goal and six saves in 53:21 minutes of gameplay. Peyton Hall allowed a pair of goals and recorded one save in the final 6:39 of gameplay.
LMU –
Keegan Gillman logged in 60:00 making three saves allowing 14 goals against on the afternoon.
TEAM STATS
LMU trailed in shots (13-21), draw controls (6-12), successful clears (14-15), tied in free-position goals (1-1), and saves (3-7). LMU led in turnovers (16-20) and ground balls (16-11).
HEAD-TO-HEAD
LMU falls to 0-6 all time against the Bulldogs after today's setback in head-to-head action.
