Lady Railsplitters Head To Greeneville In Search Of First South Atlantic Conference Tournament Championship

Take on Tusculum in 2021 South Atlantic Conference Pilot Flying J Women's Basketball Championship final

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. - Coming off a week that has seen history and magic galore, the Lincoln Memorial University women's basketball team (11-10) heads to Tusculum in search of their first South Atlantic Conference tournament championship. Already the first eighth-seeded team to win a game outside of the play-in round in the history of South Atlantic Conference women's basketball, LMU will look to play spoiler for the third consecutive game and earn the coveted automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.

Last Time Out
The Lady Railsplitters took on Anderson in the semifinals of the 2021 South Atlantic Conference Pilot Flying J Women's Basketball championship and came away with their second consecutive victory over a higher-seeded opponent on the road. The 64-62 victory was iced by transfer Mikayla Kuehne, who tied the game with a spin move for a layup, made two free throws for the lead with 3.7 seconds on the clock, and grabbed the contest's final defensive rebound. Kuehne was the Railsplitters' leading scorer with 15 points and four rebounds while Lexi Kiser and Lindsay Proffitt added 12, with Kiser pulling down five rebounds. Maggie Jachimczuk joined them in double figures with 11 points and five rebounds while Lauren Flowers led the team in rebounds with eight.

Versus The Pioneers
The Lady Railsplitters have a 44-34 all-time record against Tusculum. The series has been closely contested as of late although Tusculum has dominated over the past few seasons with five consecutive wins. Inside Pioneer Arena, LMU has been victorious 18 of 39 times.

About Tusculum
Tusculum is led by Meagan Price, who is in her inaugural year as the head coach of the program. A former standout at Missouri Baptist, Price spent stints with Truett-McConnell (assistant coach), Hiwassee (head coach), and Bethel (assistant coach) before coming to Tusculum. Coming off a 24-7 (16-6 SAC) season that included a South Atlantic Conference tournament championship, the team is 17-3 so far this season. Maddie Sutton leads the charge and averages a double-double with 16.8 points and a league-leading 15.2 rebounds per game while Jalia Arnwine averages 13.3 points. Brianna Dixon joins them in double figures with 10.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per contest.
