Men's Soccer Suffers Road Defeat Against Tusculum

Pioneers win 2-0

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. - Playing their fifth road/neutral site game in their six South Atlantic Conference contests this spring, the Lincoln Memorial University men's soccer program (2-4 SAC) fell to Tusculum 2-0 at Pioneer Field Thursday afternoon. The Railsplitters now await their seed for the 2021 South Atlantic Conference Spring Men's Soccer Tournament.

LMU came out strong on the defensive side of the field and went through the first half deadlocked at zero with Tusculum, as neither team was able to gain much ground offensively. The Pioneers came out of the half and quickly seized the momentum with a Damien Baltide goal less than four minutes into the second period. Tusculum continued to attack and although the Railsplitters created several chances, none came to fruition.

The 74th minute saw Batilde score for the second time to double the margin, and the Pioneers maintained the multi-goal margin to the final whistle, avenging their double-overtime loss to LMU in Harrogate in the process.

The Railsplitters easily outgained Tusculum in corners as they held a 7-2 margin in that category, and Robin Hermann made four saves in defeat.

LMU's postseason opponent will be announced in the near future, as dates and times for the contest can be found at lmurailsplitters.com.
