Marc Walters said. "After the doubles point, we relaxed and played our game. Jake and Iker both closed out their careers here on a high note and added more wins to their respective resumes."
The women's tough day did see some positives as
Julia Valls and
Claudie Quinn notched wins in singles while the duo of
Kristin Vogel and
Mae Fitzgerald posted a 6-3 victory at the number two doubles slot.
"I was extremely impressed with our women today," Walters continued. "They had a difficult draw, playing a good Newberry squad without several key players. The younger ones stepped up in a high-stress situation, and that's all you can ask for."
Both teams have advanced to the South Atlantic Conference postseason and now await their official seeding and pairings for the tournament, which is slated to begin Thursday, Apr. 15 in Sumter, S.C.
