Alex Dahling Named Academic All-District® by CoSIDA

Senior guard to graduate Saturday with a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance

GREENWOOD, Ind. – For the first time in recent history a Lincoln Memorial University men's basketball student-athlete has earned the distinction of Academic All-District® from College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Senior guard Alex Dahling has been placed on one of eight NCAA Division II Academic All-District® Men's Basketball Teams for 2020-21, selected by CoSIDA and announced Thursday afternoon.

A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Dahling has played a key role in the Railsplitters' unparalleled success over the last two seasons. With Dahling moving into a starting role in 2020-21, LMU made its third Division II national semifinal appearance in the last six years and captured its third Division II Southeast Regional Championship title since 2016. Seeing the court for action in all four seasons donning the Blue and Gray, Dahling is a career 40 percent three-point shooter and has amassed 789 points over the last four years. His senior campaign was one of his finest as a Railsplitter, averaging 9.4 points while shooting 43 percent from beyond the arc. The 6-foot-3 swingman is a career 81.7 percent free-throw shooting and has racked up 64 steals and 17 blocks while assisting on 132 made baskets. Dahling's 203 made three pointers are the sixth-most all-time in program history and he ranks seventh in school history in three-point attempts (507).

Starting all 23 games in 2020-21, Dahling has been a part of 103 Railsplitter victories and only 16 losses since the start of the 2017-18 season. A three-time South Atlantic Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll member, Dahling will be graduating Saturday, May 8 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in finance. He has posted a 3.41 cumulative grade point average and has been named to both the LMU Dean's List and the AD's Academic Squad. Outside of the classroom and off the court, Dahling has volunteered his time in the community in different ways. Taking part in the ROHO Christmas Shopping Spree, Dahling has read to children at Middlesboro Elementary School and participated in Relay for Life.

Honorees selected first-team Academic All-District® advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in late May.
