ROCK HILL, S.C. – Despite the unique challenges of the 2020-21 academic year due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, 166 Lincoln Memorial University student-athletes have been named to the 2020-21 South Atlantic Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll on Wednesday afternoon.
 
All 17 SAC sponsored athletic programs were represented led by men's soccer with 20 selections. Women's soccer placed 18 on the conference's academic honor roll, followed by softball (17), baseball (15), women's track and field (14), women's volleyball (11), men's lacrosse (9), women's lacrosse (9), men's basketball (8), women's basketball (8), men's golf (8), women's golf (8), men's tennis (8), men's track and field (7), women's cross country (7), women's tennis (6), and men's cross country (5).
 
The 166 student-athletes who appear on the 2020-21 SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll cap a tremendous academic year for LMU athletics. LMU boasted a department-wide grade point average of 3.32 among its 22 athletic programs for the school year. Led by an impressive 3.66 GPA by women's soccer, women's cross country and women's tennis also finished with identical 3.60 GPAs. Softball (3.59) and men's soccer (3.48) rounded out the top-five for the year.
 
A total of 2,589 student-athletes, spanning across each of the SAC's 12 member institutions, were named to the 2020-21 SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll.
 
To be eligible for inclusion on the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll, student-athletes must have competed in a sponsored championship sport and maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher throughout the academic year.
 
"We are thrilled to recognize more than 2,500 of our student-athletes for their outstanding academic accomplishments," said SAC Commissioner Patrick Britz. "This was an extremely challenging year for everyone in college athletics, and along with the help of our coaches and administrators, our student-athletes where able to continue to strive for excellence on the playing field and court, as well as in the classroom. We are extremely proud of their hard work and dedication throughout this entire year."
