LMU Men's Soccer Drops One At Mars Hill

Railsplitters score late, but fall 3-1

MARS HILL, N.C. – In another tough South Atlantic Conference battle the Lincoln Memorial men's soccer team fell to Mars Hill 3-1. The loss drops the Railsplitters to 1-5-2 on the year, and 0-3-1 in conference play.

The match was close for most of the contest before the Lions scored two late goals to put the game away.

The defense again led the way for LMU, as they took on 20 Mars Hill shots, 11 of which were on goal. The SAC's leader in saves Robin Hermann added seven more to his total tonight, to bring him to 55 on the year.

The Lions scored got the scoring going late in the first half, as they scored in the 43rd minute and took a 1-0 lead into the half. The game stayed that way until the 80th minute when Mars Hill added another goal, then increased their lead to 3-0 in the 83rd minute.

Arkin Ulusoy netted his team leading third goal of the year as he found the back of the net in the 85th minute off an assist from Peter Majer. That however, was as close as the Railsplitters would get, as the Lions held them off for the final five minutes of the match.

Shanden Vergara, Josue Camacho, and Jacob Agazzi provided the rest of the LMU offensive attack, as all three attempted two shots, with Camacho put two shots on goal while Vergara and Agazzi each put one shot on net.
