JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Lincoln Memorial women's volleyball team fell to Carson-Newman (25-18, 25-13, 25-12) Tuesday night in Holt Fieldhouse. The Railsplitters (5-12, 3-6 South Atlantic Conference) got double digit points out of
Ketura Margaret, but it wasn't enough to defeat the Eagles (16-2, 9-1 SAC) who swept the season series between the two in-state rivals with the win.
Set 1: Carson-Newman 25-18
A 7-2 Lincoln Memorial scoring run early in the opening set, highlighted by two
Kristen Moehring kills, put the visitors ahead 10-8. The hosts soon responded with an 11-2 run to take a 7-point edge at 21-14 and would cruise from there for the set win. Margaret's five kills topped the Railsplitter hitters in the opening frame.
Set 2: Carson-Newman 25-13
After Lincoln Memorial led 3-1, the Eagles rallied with a 10-0 streak and would lead by no fewer than five points the rest of the way. Margaret again paced the Lincoln Memorial offense in the second frame with three kills.
Set 3: Carson-Newman 25-12
The Eagles started strong with a 6-1 lead, and they would methodically build the advantage to as much as the final margin of 13 points. Six different Railsplitters registered a kill in the final frame, led by
Gabriela Abreu with two.

Carson-Newman led in every major statistical category, including by more than 300 points in hitting percentage (.291 to -.019).
