WISE, Va. – The Lincoln Memorial women's volleyball team fell in three sets (25-23, 25-13, 25-18) at UVA Wise on Tuesday night in the David J. Prior Convocation Center. The Railsplitters (8-20, 4-13 South Atlantic Conference) were narrowly edged out in the opening set before dropping the final two to the Cavaliers, who improved to 6-17 (2-15 SAC) with the win.

Set 1: UVA Wise 25-23
The hosts got out to an 8-4 lead, but the Railsplitters fought back to tie the score at 14-14 following kills by Kristen Moehring and Ketura Margaret. A later 4-0 UVA Wise scoring run would give the Cavaliers a 23-18 advantage, but Lincoln Memorial answered right back with a 5-0 rally, highlighted by Moehring and Maggie Sanderson kills plus an ace by Amanda Lisi, to knot it back up at 23-all. However, the hosts took the next two points, clinching the set on a kill from Kaylee Scarce. Margaret, Moehring, Sanderson and Sierrah Lemons all had multiple kills as part of a balanced offensive effort for the Railsplitters in the opening frame.

Set 2: UVA Wise 25-13
The Cavaliers again got out to an early lead, this time at 7-2, and would lead by at least two points the remainder of the frame. Moehring had three kills in the second set to lead the Lincoln Memorial offense.

Set 3: UVA Wise 25-18
UVA Wise led 11-5 early, but the Railsplitters would use kills by Lemons and Moehring to spark a 5-0 run and get within two points at 16-14. The Cavaliers would take 9 of 13 points to clinch the set and match. Moehring again led the Railsplitters, this time with four kills.
