@LMUMBB Makes 16-Point Second Half Comeback to Take Down Bobcats

HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Lincoln Memorial men's basketball team fought back from a 33-20 halftime deficit to beat Georgia College and State University 61-54 on Wednesday afternoon at Tex Turner Arena.

The Bobcats' lead peaked at 16 with 17:33 to play after a 3-pointer from Brandon Thomas, but the Railsplitters (6-1) steadily fought back, scoring 24 of the next 32 points to tie the game at 44 at the 6:55 mark of the second half. They would pull away from there, leading by as much as 10 points at 58-48 and 61-51 in the last two minutes of the game.
 
Matthew Sells led Lincoln Memorial with 21 points on 4-12 shooting from distance and 5-5 at the free throw line. The sophomore guard added five rebounds and two steals. Also in double figures for the Railsplitters were Chase Rankin (10 points, nine rebounds and five assists) and Quay Kennedy (10 points, six rebounds and two assists).
 
Rankin scored eight straight points for Lincoln Memorial, including two free throws and two 3-pointers, to give the hosts a 51-48 lead with 5:09 to play.
 
The Railsplitters beat the Bobcats (3-3) while shooting only 36.2 percent from the field (21-58) as they limited the visitors to only making a third of their shots (22-66). Lincoln Memorial outrebounded Georgia College 45-to-39.
 
Lincoln Memorial will host Mars Hill on Saturday at 4 p.m. to bookend Thanksgiving weekend and open South Atlantic Conference play.
