HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Lincoln Memorial men's basketball team came back from a 40-38 halftime deficit to defeat Lees-McRae 92-79 on Saturday afternoon at Tex Turner Arena.
The Railsplitters (13-1) led 19-13 eight minutes into the game after
Jordan Guest went on a personal 8-0 run directly after coming off the bench. A
Me'Kell Burries 3-pointer at the 7:55 mark gave the hosts a 28-18 lead, but the visiting Bobcats (5-9) scored 22 of the final 32 points of the frame to go into the break with the two-point edge.
Lincoln Memorial regained the lead early in the second half but Lees-McRae stayed within striking distance until the 10 minute mark when
Jordan Walters' free gave the hosts a 65-55 advantage, and they would lead by double digits the rest of the way.
Guest and
Quay Kennedy were the game's leading scorers with 17 points each, while Burries (13 points, four assists) and
Chase Rankin (11 points, nine rebounds and seven assists) also had double figures. Walters and
Matthew Sells had nine points each while
Martez Brown went for seven and eight rebounds.
The Bobcats were led by Nico Ashley who had 14 points and six rebounds. Lincoln Memorial shot 47.8 percent (32-67) from the field including 43.8 percent (14-32) from behind the arc. The Ralisplitters won the rebounding battle 40-36 and outscored the Bobcats 21-11 in second chance points.
The Railsplitters return to South Atlantic Conference play with a 7:30 p.m. game at UVA Wise on Wednesday.
