Women's Basketball Unable To Come Back Versus Tusculum

Kuehne and Flowers Combine for 31 Points and 13 Rebounds

HARROGATE, TENN. – It was another defensive battle inside Tex Turner Arena, as the Lincoln Memorial women's basketball team engaged in a tough game with Tusculum. Tusculum started out strong, but the Lady Railsplitters fought back, but it was too late as the Pioneers came away with a 51-41 victory.

The Pioneers started out strong in the first quarter, getting out to a 19-4 lead at the end of the first quarter, Lauren Flowers scoring all four points. The second quarter saw very little offense as well, as both struggled to score, only putting up seven points apiece. LMU got a jumper from Flowers and Mikayla Kuehne and a layup from Kuehne and went into the half down 26-11.

A layup from Lexi Kiser and an and-1 layup and free throw from Kuehne got the Lady Railsplitters within 10 points right out of the halftime break. The Pioneers would respond and push the lead up to 17, before a Lindsay Proffitt three-pointer cut into the deficit. Tusculum would get another bucket at the end of the quarter to lead 40-24 with 10 minutes to play.

LMU would again start a quarter hot, starting the period on an 8-0 run, getting two jumpers from Kuehne and one apiece from Flowers and Irelynn Davisson. After trading buckets for a couple of minutes, another Kuehne layup got the Lady Railsplitters within six, but that was as close as the game would get as Tusculum would hit seven straight free throws to close out the game and secure the 51-43 win.

Despite battling foul trouble, Kuehne still managed to score a team-high 16 points, while also grabbing six rebounds. Lauren Flowers also poured in double-figures, scoring 15 points and pulling down seven boards. Lindsay Proffitt had eight rebounds and Irelynn Davisson dished out four assists.
