Frost Hurls Five-Inning Perfect Game as Softball Sweep LMU Invitational

HARROGATE, Tenn. – The No. 13-ranked Lincoln Memorial University softball program (10-2, 0-0 SAC) completed the weekend sweep in the annual LMU Invitational, run-ruling Davenport and Maryville Sunday afternoon at Dorothy Neely.

A dominant showing from the Blue & Grey on their home turf, outscoring their opponents 33-3 over a combined 22 innings of action this weekend.

Game 1 – No. 13 Lincoln Memorial def. Davenport 8-0.

The Lady Railsplitters only had to wait until 10 a.m. Sunday morning for the first matchup of day two of the Lincoln Memorial Invitational. Hayley Tamaro took the circle Sunday morning and claimed her first victory of the season, throwing a five-inning complete game shutout. Tamaro only allowed three hits, while striking out three and walking one.

First baseman Emma Webb got the sparks going on the offensive end early on, smacking a three-run triple to open the scoring for LMU, clearing the bases in the third inning.

Tacking on an additional two runs, shortstop Sierra Hucklebee came to the plate with two on in the bottom of the fifth, and went deep for third time on the weekend to seal the run-rule victory over Davenport 8-0.

Game 2 – No. 13 Lincoln Memorial def. Maryville 8-0.

Game No. 2 of the afternoon and the final matchup of the weekend was all about star pitcher, junior Emma Frost. The Lincoln Memorial ace picked up her fifth win over the Saints in dramatic fashion, achieving the five-inning perfect game thanks to the Lady Railsplitters' second run-rule victory with a second-successive 8-0 score line. Frost sat down all 15 batters that came to the plate for Maryville, striking out 10 in total.

An efficient and effective performance on the offensive end saw eight different Lady Railsplitters tally eight RBI through five innings, as LMU's third blew the contest wide open, scoring five of their eight runs to close out the Lincoln Memorial Invitational with a perfect 4-0 record.
