Women's Basketball Falls in Season Finale

GAFFNEY, S.C. – The Lincoln Memorial University women's basketball saw their 2021-22 campaign come to a close on Saturday afternoon after suffering a loss at Limestone, 87-60.

The Railsplitters found themselves up early 4-2, but the Saints used a 16-2 run to take the lead, 18-6. Lincoln Memorial found the net just once more in the first frame as time expired on a jumper from Lauren Flowers. Limestone held the Splitters to just 25 percent shooting in the first quarter.

A balanced second quarter saw Flowers and Irelynn Davvison clawing at the Limestone led, using a quick 7-0 run to bring LMU to within four. The Saints did not take long to extend their lead as the Limestone defense locked down over the final minutes going into the half with the Saints offense giving them a 35-23 lead over LMU.

A hot shooting third quarter saw the Saints extend their lead slightly over the Railsplitters. Lincoln Memorial came close to the lead early on, but Limestone was able to get hot over the middle of the third before finishing the third quarter with the lead, 65-45.

The Saints were able to keep their offense in high gear over the start of the fourth as they continued to stretch their lead over LMU. The Railsplitters shot 50 percent in the fourth, but it was not enough as Limestone went onto win, 87-60.

The Railsplitters finish the 2021-22 season with a 10-17 overall mark while going 8-16 in conference play, finishing in 10th place in the South Atlantic Conference standings.
