Men's Lacrosse Takes Double-Digit Win over Shorter

ROME, Ga. – The Lincoln Memorial University men's lacrosse team traveled south to the Peach State to battle the Hawks of Shorter and used a high-octane offense and defensive stops in the third quarter, the Railsplitters captured a 18-8 win over Shorter on Tuesday night.

It did not take long for the Railsplitters to find the back of the net as Christian Cliff tallied his second goal of the season at the 13:47 mark. Kevin Jendrasik continued the offensive output, putting in his first of the night moments after Cliff's tally. Francis O'Hara and Rhodes Conroy continued to shine for Lincoln Memorial as the attack duo put the 'Splitters up 5-0 after 15 minutes of play.

The Hawks came alive in the second as they were able to get their offense going just before the first quarter ended, but the second was a different tale. Shorter was able to tally five unanswered goals to even the contest up, but the LMU defense buckled down and allowed just one more goal over the remaining seven minutes of the half while the Railsplitter offense was able to net three in the second to give LMU an 8-6 lead over Shorter at the break.

The Railsplitters' defense was the talk of the night in the third quarter as Hunter Rinehart stood tall in the cage, picking up his fourth win of the season, to lead the Splitters down the stretch. Conroy notched three of his five goals in the third to help propel Lincoln Memorial to a 14-6 lead of three quarters of play.

Lincoln Memorial was able to control the fourth quarter tallying three goals early to extend their lead before the Hawks netted two back-to-back before the Splitters were able to close out the contest for the win, 18-8, over Shorter on Tuesday.
