DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The Lincoln Memorial University softball program (32-18, 15-9 SAC) concluded their 2022 regular season schedule Tuesday afternoon in the Peach State, falling in two tightly-contested games in the rematch of last season's regional championship versus North Georgia.
Ritchie Richardson's side racked up 32 victories throughout the 2022 regular season, impressively reaching the 30-win mark for the third time in five seasons in his rein of the program.
The Lady Railsplitters bolstered a home record of 21-5 on the campaign, a line that will lead the group with much confidence into this weekend's South Atlantic Conference Championship, hosted inside the friendly confines of Dorothy Neely Field.
Game 1 – Lincoln Memorial fall to No. 19 North Georgia 2-1.
Just three combined runs in the afternoon's opener reached home safely, thanks to a thrilling pitchers' duel that saw LMU ace
Emma Frost and North Georgia's Delaney Heaberlin both going the distance in Dahlonega.
Right fielder
Kelsey Hoskins evened the nail-biting contest in the top-half of the third, clobbering her third home run of the season to left field. The Lady Nighthawks ultimately pushed across the game-winning run in the fifth off an RBI single to right-center.
Junior
Emma Frost saw action through all six innings in the circle, only allowing the two runs with zero walks issued. Frost moves to 18-8 on the campaign.
Game 2 – Lincoln Memorial fall to No. 19 North Georgia 3-1.
Game two saw LMU's
Hayley Tamaro and UNG's Kristen Davis battle it out down the stretch in the circle, as the Nighthawks broke through in the game's third inning, with a fielder's choice that safely pushed across a run, putting North Georgia up yet again on the Lady Railsplitters.
The Lady Nighthawks again pushed across additional runs in the ensuing two innings of action before a
Shelby Blake RBI single through the left side in the fifth pulled the Blue & Grey within two runs. Jordan Warzynski of UNG earned the save, keeping LMU at-bay through the contest's final three frames.
Senior
Hayley Tamaro moved to 8-3 to close our the 2022 regular season campaign, striking out five through six innings in the circle.
