Box Score GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – The Lincoln Memorial women's volleyball team won the first set at rival Tusculum, but fell in four sets (22-25, 25-22, 25-16, 25-18) on Tuesday night at Pioneer Arena. The Railsplitters (3-8, 1-2 South Atlantic Conference) had at least a dozen kills from three players, but the Pioneers (3-5, 3-2 SAC) had big performances from Emiah Burrowes (17 kills) and Martina Foster (15 kills) to take the final three sets of the match.
Set 1: Lincoln Memorial 25-22
The Railsplitters led 6-3 early thanks to two kills by
Ketura Margaret and aces from
Lydia Thurman and
Kristen Moehring. A later 4-0 Lincoln Memorial spurt increased the visitors' advantage to six at 15-9. A pair of kills from
Maggie Sanderson would up the lead again, this time to seven at 21-14. The Pioneers fought off three set points in a row, but Margaret sealed the opening frame for the Railsplitters with a kill. Margaret paced the Lincoln Memorial offense with five kills in the first set, while the Railsplitters out-served their opponents 3 aces to 0.
Set 2: Tusculum 25-22
Back-and-forth early in the set until a 3-0 Tusculum scoring run increased its advantage to 17-13. A Margaret kill was part of Lincoln Memorial's 3-0 run to cut the deficit to two at 19-17, but the Pioneers maintained at least a two-point advantage the rest of the way. Margaret again led the Railsplitters in the second frame, this time with six kills.
Set 3: Tusculum 25-16
The Pioneers led the set from start to finish, with the major differentiator being a 7-0 spurt that turned a two-point lead into an 18-9 advantage. Moehring (five kills) and Sanderson (four) put down multiple points for the Railsplitters in the third frame.
Set 4: Tusculum 25-18
Tusculum started with a 10-1 lead and led by at least four for the balance of the frame. Moehring posted four kills for Lincoln Memorial in the final set.

After Lincoln Memorial led in service aces 3-to-0 after the first set, Tusculum led in that category 9-to-1 the remainder of the match.
