Box Score HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Lincoln Memorial women's volleyball team defeated UVA Wise in four sets (25-21, 25-4, 21-25, 25-21) on Saturday afternoon in Mars Gym. The Railsplitters (5-8, 3-2 South Atlantic Conference) had a big performance out of
Ketura Margaret (20 points on 16 kills, two aces and two solo blocks) to win for the second time in two days against conference foes.
Set 1: Lincoln Memorial 25-21
Kills from Margaret and
Sierrah Lemons plus an ace by
Kristen Moehring put the Railsplitters up 7-3 early. The Cavaliers later responded with a 4-0 spurt to tie the score at 11-all, but Lincoln Memorial subsequently went on a 4-point run of its own, including kills by Moehring and
Maggie Sanderson, and would lead the rest of the way. Margaret's five kills paced the Railsplitter attack in the opening frame.
Set 2: Lincoln Memorial 25-4
After beginning the set with a 5-0 lead, the Railsplitters would extend the advantage with a 13-0 outburst on Moehring's serve to lead 21-2. Margaret had three kills and Moehring contributed two during the scoring spree, while Moehring's four kills overall in the set led Lincoln Memorial.
Set 3: UVA Wise 25-21
The Cavaliers use a 5-point scoring run early for a 9-4 advantage, and they would lead the rest of the way. Margaret and Moehring kills highlighted a 5-0 Railsplitter run late in the set to get them back to within two points at 20-18, but UVA Wise clinched the set on a kill from Lauren Montes.
Katie Bedel posted three kills in the third frame for Lincoln Memorial.
Set 4: Lincoln Memorial 25-21
An ace from Sanderson plus Margaret and Sanderson kills accounted for a 3-0 run to give the Railsplitters a 10-7 edge early. They would extend the advantage to as much as six at 18-12 thanks to back-to-back kills by Sanderson, but UVA Wise would later get within one at 19-18. Margaret secured the set and the match for Lincoln Memorial with a kill. Margaret's six kills again paced the Railsplitters in the final frame.

Margaret (.500) and Moehring (.409) posted excellent hitting percentages on 20-plus swings each.
