Box Score HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Lincoln Memorial women's volleyball team was defeated by Newberry in four sets (25-21, 25-20, 16-25, 25-10) on Saturday afternoon in Mars Gym. The Railsplitters (5-11, 3-5 South Atlantic Conference) had 11 kills each from
Ketura Margaret and
Kristen Moehring, but it wasn't enough to take down the Wolves, who improved to 7-7 (2-4 SAC) on the season.
Set 1: Newberry 25-21
The Wolves led 10-5 early after a 6-0 run and had as much as a 7-point advantage at 14-7 and 18-11. Lincoln Memorial quickly fought back to get within two at 20-18, and 22-20, but Newberry took 3 of the final 4 points to clinch the set. Moehring put down three kills, while
MJ Trujillo collected six digs in the opening frame for the Railsplitters.
Set 2: Newberry 25-20
Another early scoring spree for the Wolves got them out to a 9-3 edge, and they would lead by as much as 11 at 16-5 and 23-12. Four
Gabriela Abreu kills helped fend off six Newberry set points before Samantha Shaffer clinched the set for the Wolves with a kill. Abreu's four kills and
Lydia Thurman's four digs paced Lincoln Memorial in the second period.
Set 3: Lincoln Memorial 25-16
The Railsplitters led 7-3 and 11-6 early after 3-point bursts, and an 8-0 scoring run on Thurman's serve extended the advantage to 23-10. Margaret had two kills during the set-deciding scoring spree, while Moehring and
Kaley Long added one each. Overall, Margaret and Moehring contributed five kills each during the third frame to lead the Railsplitters to the clinch.
Set 4: Newberry 25-10
Newberry began the set with a 7-0 lead, and the 15-point advantage to clinch it was their largest of the final frame. Five different Railsplitters had a single kill in the last period.

Three different Wolves had double-digit kills: Olivia Bradley (20), Taylor Hall (13) and Kate Brown (11).
