ANDERSON, S.C. – The Lincoln Memorial men's basketball team dismantled Anderson 108-63 on Saturday at the Abney Athletic Center in its first game against a Piedmont Division foe in South Atlantic Conference play this season.
The Railsplitters (17-1, 7-0 SAC) led 61-32 at halftime and by as many as the 45-point final margin in the victory, making them 4-0 in true road games this season. Lincoln Memorial led by double figures for more than 35 minutes in the lopsided win, as it would have at least a 10-point advantage for the balance of the game following a basket by
Chase Rankin at the 15:05 mark of the first half.
Rankin led the visitors with a 19-point, 13-assist double-double while adding eight rebounds. Five more Railsplitters scored in double figures including
Jordan Guest (18 points),
Me'Kell Burries (15 points, five rebounds),
Matthew Sells (15 points, three assists),
Jordan Walters (13 points, four rebounds, three assists) and
Martez Brown (10-point, 13-rebound double-double).
Lincoln Memorial shot an efficient 58.3 percent from the field (42-72) including making 52.8 percent (19-36) from beyond the arc while limiting Anderson (4-12, 1-5 SAC) to 34.4 percent shooting. The visitors dominated in points off turnovers (26-5), points in the paint (44-22), fastbreak points (33-5) and bench points (47-2).
The Railsplitters are next scheduled to play at Mars Hill on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
