The Lincoln Memorial men's basketball team returns to Tex Turner Arena to host Newberry on Saturday at 4 p.m. in the only game of the regular season between the Railsplitters and Wolves. The No. 3 Railsplitters are coming off an 87-65 win at Mars Hill to extend their winning streak to 17 games in a row. Lincoln Memorial is 27-8 all-time against the Wolves including 12-4 at home, with the Railsplitters having won the last two games.

In Wednesday night's triumph at Mars Hill, Lincoln Memorial (18-1, 8-0 South Atlantic Conference) got 25 points and five rebounds out of
Jordan Walters and 20 points, nine rebounds and three assists from
Quay Kennedy.

The visiting Wolves enter the matchup with a 10-7 overall record (3-4 SAC), winning their two most recent games against Carson-Newman on Jan. 14 (63-55) and Lenoir-Rhyne on Jan. 18 (62-60). Their other win in league play was over Anderson on Dec. 7 (62-53).

Lincoln Memorial was ranked No. 3 in both the National Association of Basketball Coaches and D2SIDA polls released on Jan. 17, which is the team's highest ranking in both polls this season.

RAILSPLITTER STRIKES (through games played Jan. 19)
- Lincoln Memorial leads the SAC in assists per game (20.6, fourth in Division II), field goal percentage (53.4, second), rebounding margin (+10.9, fourth), scoring margin (+22.5, second) and scoring offense (92.5 points per game, fifth) so far this season.
- Chase Rankin leads all of Division II in total assists at 126, while his 6.6 assists per game ranks fourth nationally. The graduate guard's 2.86 assist-to-turnover ratio leads the SAC.
- Martez Brown's 165 total rebounds leads the league and ranks No. 17 in the country.
- Matthew Sells has made 54 3-pointers this season, good for fourth in the conference and 15th in Division II. The sophomore guard's 45.4 percent shooting from distance ranks second in the league and No. 20 nationally.
- Rankin earned the SAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week honor on Jan. 16, while redshirt sophomore guard Me'Kell Burries won it on Jan. 9.
- Rankin was named to the Top 100 Watch List for the Bevo Francis Award on Jan. 15, which is given to the player who had the finest overall season within Small College Basketball.
SCOUTING NEWBERRY: The Wolves are fourth in the Piedmont Division but tied for third in the loss column with Coker. Newberry secures 14 offensive rebounds a game, which leads the league and stands at No. 10 in Division II. Its +7.1 rebounding margin is No. 17 nationally. The Wolves are second in the SAC in scoring defense (69.9 points per game).

Senior forward QuanDaveon McCollum ranks third in the SAC with 16.0 points per game, and his 3.44 offensive rebounds per game leads the league and is 12th in Division II. Sophomore center Malakhi Stremlow also crashes the offensive glass, ranking second in the league with 3.0 offensive boards per game.
