The Lincoln Memorial men's volleyball team returns home to host in-state rival King on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in Mary Mars Gym. The Railsplitters (4-4) battle the Tornado (3-7) for the first of two matches on the season (Feb. 28 at King).

Lincoln Memorial is coming off a 3-0 sweep over Quincy on Jan. 20 before getting a week off in preparation for the rivalry match.

Last season, the Railsplitters swept the season series with the Tornado including a five-set win at Mars Gym on Jan. 25 and a four-set triumph on March 29 in Bristol.

Head coach John Cash and the Railsplitters are coming off a 2022 season when they went 20-7, beat two ranked foes (No. 11 Loyola-Chicago on Jan. 28 and at No. 14 McKendree on March 12), and won the Independent Volleyball Association Tournament Championship.

Railsplitter Strikes
- The Railsplitters rank No. 21 nationally in assists per set (11.07) and hitting percentage (0.277) and No. 22 in blocks per set (2.054) as we wind down the first month of the year.
- Freshman outside hitter Shay Spadaro's .426 hitting percentage is good for 12th in the NCAA, while redshirt junior middle hitter Matthew Gentry stands at 13th nationally (.416).
- Junior setter Kohl Kutsch ranks 17th in assists per set (9.20) so far this year.
- Lincoln Memorial defeated No. 7 UC Santa Barbara on Jan. 6 for its first win over a Top 10 team in program history.
- Freshman Zadyn Lebreche and sophomore transfer Asa Labreche trained with the USAV Beach National Team Development Program this fall and look to be impact additions to this year's team.
SCOUTING KING: The Tornado are coming off a 2022 season when they went 17-12 (11-3 Conference Carolinas) before losing in the semifinals of their conference tournament. This year's team ranks No. 11 in attacks per set (26.81) and No. 18 in digs per set (8.42) nationally.

Junior middle blocker Kellan Kennedy is second in the NCAA with a .535 hitting percentage, while senior outside hitter Jackson Carroll's 7.93 attacks per set rank 14th.
