Wingate, NC - The Lincoln Memorial men's soccer team took to North Carolina on Saturday for a conference match up with 14th ranked Wingate. Throughout the month of October, the Railsplitters had yet to lose a game. That fact remained after Saturday's match with the Bulldogs ended in a tie, 2-2.
Lincoln Memorial was quick onto the board with South Atlantic Conference goals leader
Daniel Burko scoring in the third minute on a penalty kick, giving the Railsplitters a 1-0 lead following a foul by Wingate's Dennis Hamzic. In near mirror fashion, Wingate's Pablo Pozos tied the game at 1-1 in the 16th minute on a penalty goal. It was the first goal allowed by LMU goalkeeper Daniel Miklosi in the month of October.
After seeing the Bulldogs tied the game at 1-1 in the first half, Lincoln Memorial came out aggressive in the second half, regaining the lead in the 54th minute when
Arkin Ulusoy netted a goal, giving the Railsplitters a 2-1 lead. However, 34 seconds later, Wingate countered with a quick striking goal from Florens Honk on the assist from Tajay Grant, tying the game at 2-2, where the game would later go final, seeing Lincoln Memorial remain unbeaten in the month of October.
With the tie, the Railsplitters moved to 8-2-3 on the season. They will be back in action on October 21st, playing host to Limestone. Kick off for the match is slated for 3:30 PM at the Lacrosse Complex in Harrogate.
