Men's soccer upsets #9 Limestone at home

Harrogate, TN - The month of October continues to be kind to Lincoln Memorial men's soccer. The Railsplitters played host to ninth ranked Limestone on Saturday, emerging victorious in a 2-0 decision on Senior Day. It is only the second time in school history that Lincoln Memorial has defeated a team ranked inside the top-10. (#5 Lenoir-Rhyne, 2017) It is also the third ranked win for the team this season. Earlier in the year, the team defeated #23 Lee and #22 Catawba. The Railsplitters also tied #14 Wingate last week.

South Atlantic Conference goals leader Daniel Burko had another good day for Lincoln Memorial, scoring both of the Railsplitters' goals in the game. Limestone had only allowed five goals all season prior to Saturday's contest, allowing a maximum of two goals in one other game, outscoring its opponents 42-5 on the season. Burko started things off with a goal on a penalty kick in the ninth minute of the game, giving the Railsplitters an early lead. He added the game's second and final goal of the game in the 52nd minute, giving LMU the 2-0 decision.

With the victory, the Railsplitters moved to 9-2-3 on the season. This was the last home game of the season for Lincoln Memorial as it honored its seniors. The Railsplitters will be back in action on October 28th on the road against Lenoir-Rhyne with kickoff slated for 6:30 PM.
