Women's soccer falls to Wingate on the road

Wingate, NC - The Lincoln Memorial women's soccer team traveled to Wingate on Saturday. 

Both teams failed to get anything on the board in the first half. Lincoln Memorial goalkeeper Bente Latenstein was a defensive force, tallying eight saves in the first half. However, in the 55th minute, Yasmin Cowley found the back of the net for the Bullodgs on the assist from Caroline Peters, giving Wingate a 1-0 lead in the second half. Cowley again found the net in the 62nd minute of the match, giving the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead. This time, she was assisted by Nicole Cristy. In the 69th minute, Wingate's Manu Baptiste Filipe took a shot that went off the right post, and was rebounded by Brianna Ditillo, who then connected on the goal, extending the Bulldogs' lead to its final of 3-0.

Latenstein finished the game with 11 saves.

With the loss, the Railsplitters moved to 7-5-2 on the season, with a 3-3-2 mark in conference play. Lincoln Memorial will play host to Limestone on Oct. 21st with kick off slated for 1:00 PM in Harrogate at the LMU Lacrosse Complex.
