Field hockey drops hard-fought game with Wingate on the road

Wingate, NC - With only two games remaining in the season, the Lincoln Memorial field hockey team is still seeking its first win of the season, and second in program history, after falling to Wingate 3-1 on Saturday in a hard-fought game.

With neither team able to secure a goal in the first quarter, Wingate's Alex Muscillo was the first to score, netting a goal in the 15th minute to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead. However, 13 minutes later, Katherine Brislin knotted the game at 1-1 on the assist from Olivia Rosini. The game remained tied at 1-1 until the final frame.

With less than 10 minutes remaining in the contest in the 51st minute, Emma George gave Wingate the lead on the assist from Lauren Montgomery. Moments later, Novy Schrijvers gave the Bulldogs their third and final goal of the game, and inevitably, the 3-1 victory over the Railsplitters.

With the loss, Lincoln Memorial moved to 0-16 on the season with an 0-12 mark in the conference. The Railsplitters travel to Spartanburg, SC on October 24th for their last road game of the season. The game is slated to begin at 5:00 PM.
