Emory, VA - Four days after falling to Lenoir-Rhyne and falling out of the top 25 rankings, the Lincoln Memorial men's soccer team found itself back in the win column after routing Emory & Henry in its final game of the regular season.
South Atlantic Conference goals and points leader
Daniel Burko wasted no time getting a jump on the Wasps. With assists from
Jesper Disen and Pablo Hererra, Burko netted the games first two goals in the 13th and 21st minutes of the contest. Not to be outdone, teammate
Arkin Ulusoy went on a frenzy of his own, scoring the Railsplitters' next two goals in the 31st and 32nd minute of the game, scoring two goals in one minute and fifteen seconds of game time. Burko added an assist on the second goal.
Leandro Dos Santos Haesler wasn't missing out on the fun, netting a goal of his own in the 41st minute of the game, extending the Railsplitters' lead to 5-0 at the half. In the waining minutes of the game,
Emir Basar netted a goal with an assist from
Hunter Oubre, bringing the game to its final score of 6-0. Goalkeeper Daniel Miklosi was done by halftime, allowing zero goals.
Max Keller filled the net for Miklosi in the second half, following suit by allowing the Wasps nothing.
Wednesday it was announced that Lincoln Memorial was ranked fifth in Super Region 2 of the NCAA DII Men's Soccer Regional Rankings. The South Atlantic Conference Tournament will begin Saturday, Nov. 4. The Railsplitters' opponent, game location, and kick off time have yet to be determined as of press time.
With the victory, the Railsplitters tallied their 10th win of the season and moved to 10-3-3 overall. For the Wasps, that'll wrap up the season. They finished winless with an 0-15 record. Lincoln Memorial will now set its sights on the SAC Tournament, beginning Saturday.
