Men's soccer travels to Miami for NCAA Super Regional

Harrogate, TN - The Lincoln Memorial men's soccer team (11-4-3) takes to Miami, FL for the Super Regional of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday. The fifth-seed Railsplitters will take on the fourth-seed and fifteenth-ranked Barry University (12-4-1) in the first round.

Lincoln Memorial was ranked as high as 18th nationally this season, and have accrued many individual accolades. Forward Daniel Burko leads the South Atlantic Conference in goals scored with 19, and points with 41. He is also ranked 2nd nationally in goals scored and 4th in total points. He is tied for 2nd nationally in game-winning goals.Burko is the nation's top penalty goal scorer, connecting on 5-of-5 attempts. He was named the South Atlantic Conference's Offensive Player of the Year, and was named to the All-SAC first team. Midfielder Kriton Kiousis and defender Leandro Dos Santos Haesler were also named to the first and second teams respectively. Goalkeeper Daniel Miklosi is ranked 17th nationally in shutouts, and is second in the conference, trailing only Limestone's Henrik Dahl. Miklosi's .97 goals-against average is good for the 34th best in the nation.

Barry has its fair share of great play makers as well. Midfielder David Polanco is tied for 8th nationally in goals scored with 14. He also led the Sunshine State Conference in goals scored en route to being named to the All-SSC first team. Iker Berruezo was named SSC Defensive Player of the Year and 1st team All-SSC while teammate goalkeeper Rafael Furlani was also named to the All-SSC first team. The Bucs saw four players named to the All-SSC second team. Midfielders Juan Pablo Correa and Nicolas Villalobos, defensemen Lucas Silva and forward Oier Calvillo were all named to the second team. Forward Scott Neil was also named to the All-SSC third team. Calvillo is tied for 8th nationally in assists and leads the Sunshine State Conference.

This will be the fourth time overall Barry and Lincoln Memorial have faced off in men's soccer with Barry leading the series 2-1-0.  Barry is undefeated vs Lincoln Memorial in Miami Springs winning in 1999 and again in 2007.  LMU's only win came in 2006 in Harrogate.  The winner of Saturday's match will take on Clayton St.
