Matthews, NC - After downing fifth-seeded Anderson at home last week, the Lincoln Memorial men's soccer team is gearing up for a rematch with top-seeded Wingate in Matthews, NC on Friday. It was announced on Tuesday that Railsplitter forward
Daniel Burko was named the SAC Offensive Player of the Year. He won't be the only SAC "Player of the Year" on the field. Wingate's Pedro Santos was named the SAC Defensive Player of the Year. Lincoln Memorial's
Kriton Kiousis and
Leandro Dos Santos Haesler, along with Burko, were named All-SAC. Kiousis and Burko were named to the first team, while Haesler was named to the second team.
Wingate had its share of All-SAC selections as well. Along with Santos, Bulldog defenders Pedro Pozos and Owen Marshall, and goalkeeper Aleksa Janjic were named to the All-SAC first team. Teammates Kosi Mafela and Harry Burcumshaw were named to the second team.
When the two teams met earlier this season in Wingate, NC, neither was able to separate from the other, with the game ending in a 2-2 tie.
