Box Score HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Lincoln Memorial men's volleyball team swept Central State (25-18, 25-18, 25-21) for the second time in two days on Saturday afternoon at Mary Mars Gym. The win improved the Railsplitters' record to 7-4 while dropping Central State to 3-7.
Set 1: Lincoln Memorial 25-19
Two kills and an ace from
Justin Sharfenaker got the hosts out to a 6-2 lead, and a later 4-1 rally highlight by two
Shay Spadaro kills and one from
Matthew Gentry gave them a 14-9 advantage, as Lincoln Memorial would lead by at least four points the rest of the way. The duo of Sharfenaker and Spadaro had four kills each in the opening frame.
Set 2: Lincoln Memorial 26-24
Trailing 18-16, the Railsplitters went on a 5-1 scoring run highlighted by Spadaro and Sharfenaker terminations to regain the lead at 21-19. The two teams alternated two-point spurts until the score was tied at 23, when the hosts took 3 of the final 4 points to clinch the set and go up 2-0 in the match. Gentry led the Lincoln Memorial offense with four kills in the second set.
Set 3: Lincoln Memorial 25-20
Two
Cole Campisano kills sparked another 5-1 rally late in the set for the Railsplitters, turning a 17-17 tie into a 22-18 lead, and they would clinch the set and match on a Spadaro termination. Campisano paced the Railsplitter attack with five kills in the final frame.
