Men's Lacrosse Wins on the Road

Men's Lacrosse traveled to Chowan University to take on the Hawks in a non-conference and are returning with a 15-10 win, moving to a 4-3 record.
 
Chowan struck first with a goal from their leading scorer, Jaxon Martin.  Rhodes Conroy then responded with his first of many goals of the day.  Conroy then caused a turnover that turned into a goal making it 2-1 and his second of the day.  LMU couldn't come up with a faceoff just yet – but then Jordan Sullivan caused a quick turnover to at least get a shot off on the offensive end.  Tyler Shea also caused a turnover leading to a goal by Gavin Reid, assist from Francis O'Hara.  O'Hara got another assist leading to Rhodes Conroy having a hat trick in the first quarter.  O'Hara then got a goal for himself, scoring 5-2 at the end of the quarter.  
 
Both teams could not find the back of the net in the second quarter until Rhodes Conroy got his fourth goal of the day 8 minutes into the quarter.  Chowan responded with a goal making it a 3-goal game.  Conroy found the back of the net again with his fifth goal making it 7-3.  Gavin Reid got his second goal of the day with an assist from Conroy.  The score before halftime was 8-3.
 
Gavin Reid got a hat trick, getting a goal to start the second half.  Chowan then went on a 3-goal run until Conroy assisted Reid into stopping the run and scoring this quarter 11-7.
 
Chowan was getting back in a groove and trying to find a way to get the score closer.  Conroy was unstoppable, netting his sixth goal of the game, the highest of the year.   Cayden McClure, Hunter Kot, and Daniel Pearl all got a goal in the fourth quarter to make the game's final score 15-10.
 
Notables:
Rhodes Conroy tied his career high of six goals.  He scored six last year against Tusculum.  He also had three assists - a career-high of nine points. 
Gavin Reid had four goals.
Francis O'Hara had two goals.
Pearl, Kot, and McClure had one goal each.
Haden Berry went 19-27 on faceoffs, having ten ground balls.  
Michael Rogers and Jordan Sullivan had six ground balls each.  Rogers had four caused turnovers; Sullivan had five. 
 
Next Up:
LMU will return home to take on the Wingate Bulldogs in a conference game Saturday, March 18th at 4 pm.
