HARROGATE, Tenn. – Cameron Bowen hit a walkoff single in the 10
th inning propelling the Lincoln Memorial baseball team to a 4-3 win over Tusculum in the series opener Friday night at Lamar Hennon Field.
Stepping to the plate with the bases loaded and no outs, Bowen nailed a deep fly ball to center field that almost got out of the park but scored
Kasten Harvey for the game-winning run. Bowen had scored the game-tying run an inning earlier on a sacrifice fly by
Collin Goda.
The Railsplitters (17-9, 4-6 South Atlantic Conference) led 2-0 after 3 innings over the Pioneers (19-11, 8-5 SAC) on a Harvey RBI single in the 1
st and a
Carson Boles RBI double in the 3
rd. Tusculum scored twice in the 4
th and once in the 8
th to take the lead before Lincoln Memorial's late-innings heroics.
Starting pitcher
Patrick Queener struck out 9 in 7.0 innings of 2-run ball for the Railsplitters, while
Colin Murphy picked up the win with a scoreless 10
th to improve to 3-0. Tusculum's Jacob Willett was hit with the loss to fall to 3-3.
Lincoln Memorial concludes the series with the Pioneers in a Saturday doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
