Men's Lacrosse Wins Big Against Tusculum

Men's Lacrosse (6-4, 2-2) traveled to Greeneville for an in-state SAC rival matchup between them and the Tusculum University Pioneers.  The last matchup between these two teams took place in Harrogate, where the Pioneers took the win with a score of 19-10.  The Railsplitters took a 17-10 today over the Pioneers.
 
Gavin Reid started the offense with a goal five minutes into the first quarter, and from there, the Railsplitters found a 4-0 run with goals from Reid, Max Mora, and Michael Rogers. 
 
The Pioneers stopped the run in the second quarter to get their own goal.  Shortly after, Daniel Pearl found the back of the net with an assist from Rhodes Conroy.  Pearl then got another goal from a man-up situation with an assist by Brock Saunders.  Tusculum started to find a groove, bringing the score within two at 6-4.  Francis O'Hara found the back of the net with four minutes left to go.  Not even a minute later, Conroy finally got a goal, and then another goal just ten seconds before the half.  The score then became 9-4.
 
The Railsplitters hit the gas and did not lead up.  Kevin Jendrasik got himself a goal after firing a few shots and finding the back of the net.  Freshman Jenson Jones got the Railsplitters another goal making it a 5-0 run from the end of the second quarter to the beginning of the third.  The Pioneers stopped the run by getting a goal, making it 11-5.  Daniel Pearl got a hat trick and assisted Jordan Sullivan with a goal.  TU kept trying to find their way back in, but it wasn't possible.  Gavin Reid got himself a hat trick with an assist from Pearl.  The end of the third quarter score was 14-6.  
 
Hunter Kot got a goal at the start of the fourth quarter with an assist from Conroy.  Conroy then went to get himself a hat trick, getting them up by ten.  Gabe Smith scored the game's last goal with an assist from Mark Dawson, making the final score 17-10.
 
Hunter Rinehart went the whole time in the cage, getting the win with 12 saves, three ground balls, and a caused turnover. 
 
Notables:
Reid, Pearl, and Conroy all had three goals.
Daniel Pearl and Rhodes Conroy had two assists.  
Rogers, Sullivan Jendrasik, O'Hara, Mora, Kot, Smith, and Jones all had one goal.
Michael Rogers had five ground balls.
Jordan Sullivan had four ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Haden Berry went 18-25 on faceoffs and had seven ground balls.

The Railsplitters will return home to take on the #4 ranked Lenoir-Rhyne Saturday, April 1st, at 4 pm.
