HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Lincoln Memorial baseball team's late rally was not enough to beat Catawba as the Indians won the rubber game of the series 6-4 on Sunday afternoon at Lamar Hennon Field.
The Railsplitters (11-4, 1-2 South Atlantic Conference) couldn't muster a run until the 8
th inning when they scored twice on an
Andrew Keene triple. Lincoln Memorial rallied again in the final frame as
Carson Boles hit a 2-run double, but the hosts failed to bring him in as the potential game-tying run.
Catawba (11-7, 5-1 SAC) got a pair of runs in the 2
nd and crossed the plate once in the 5
th for the only damage against Railsplitter starting pitcher
Eli Edds (2-1), who allowed only 2 earned runs on 6 hits while striking out 5 in 7.0 innings. Mason Gwyn (3-0) earned the win pitching 6.1 innings of shutout baseball. Robbie Cowie got his first save of the year after cleaning up the last 4 outs for the Indians.
Center fielder
Collin Goda went 3-for-5 with a run scored and walk at the top of the order for Lincoln Memorial, while Boles and Keene had the 2 RBI each for the Railsplitters.
Lincoln Memorial is scheduled to host Lee on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
