Banner Elk, NC -- The Lincoln Memorial Men's Soccer team got the 2023 season started on the right
foot, blanking Chowan 3-0 on the road. After re-hauling nearly the entire roster, the win bodes well for LMU's season.
The Railsplitters got going early, when
Ronan O'Mahony missed high but then shortly thereafter netted the first goal of the season at the 7:37 mark, giving Lincoln Memorial a 1-0 lead. Daniel Cruz was the next to find the back of the net following an assist from Steven Stone to give the Railsplitters a 2-0 lead, which they would hold throughout the remainder of the game.
LMU tallied 12 shots, five of which were on-goal, to Chowan's 10 shots, of which three were on target. Goalkeeper Daniel Miklosi held Chowan to zero goals, saving the three attempts on net.Â
With the win, the Railsplitters move to 1-0 on the season ahead of a 2:00 PM Sunday matchup against Lees-McRae, again in Banner Elk, NC.
