Game Recap: Field Hockey |

LMU Field Hockey falls to nationally ranked Mount Olive

Mount Olive, NC -- The Lincoln Memorial Field Hockey team found itself in a "pickle" in the pickle capital of the world against Mount Olive.

The Railsplitters are a young program and knew they had an uphill climb against the preseason SAC top-ranked Trojans. The climb proved to be too much for Lincoln Memorial as Mount Olive cruised to a 14-0 win. It was announced to the team that its starting goalkeeper was ineligible for play as they were headed to the event venue, adding another wrinkle of difficulty to the mix.

The Trojans got off to a hot start, taking a 3-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Adding four goals in the second, three goals in the third, and four goals in the final frame, the Trojans poured on 14 goals on 41 shots, 27 of which were on-goal. The Railsplitters managed only three shots during the contest, two of which were on-goal. Lincoln Memorial did manage 13 saves in the contest.

Following a postponed game against Lander, that was postponed due to inclement weather, the Railsplitters will be back in action on September 13th in St. Louis, MO against Maryville University before their first home game of the season against Mount Olive on September 16th.
