LMU Women's Soccer Tops Newberry for First SAC Victory

Box Score Harrogate, TN- The Lincoln Memorial Lady Railsplitters earned their first South Atlantic Conference win of the season against Newberry on Saturday.

Both teams would equalize one another for much of the game. The end tally would record both squads with eleven total shots and respective goalkeepers in Bente Latenstein (LMU) and Corrine Brookes (NC) with five saves a piece.

A red card in the 35th minute would force the Lady Railsplitters to play down for the rest of the game, but would not be taken advantage of as LMU would maintain the possession battle for much of the contest. In the 82nd minute, an attacking possession would give Lincoln Memorial with a couple chances on goal until Corrine Denton would find the back of the net, scoring her first goal of the season and giving Ryan Branson her third assist on the year.

Lincoln Memorial (5-2-1, 1-0-1) will face off with Tusculum University (1-4-1) on Wednesday, September 27th, at 5 PM in Greeneville, TN for another road SAC matchup.
