Greenville, TN- Lincoln Memorial Women's Soccer would solidify themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the South Atlantic Conference with their 3-1 win over Tusculum on Wednesday.
Lincoln Memorial would come out aggressive in the contest with several shots on goal. It would be Tusculum, however, that would score first with a Hannah Deakins goal off the rebound from goalkeeper
Bente Latenstein's save. LMU would quickly take possession back and attack, with
Alicia Bevins finding the back of the net to even the score 1-1 less than three minutes later.Â
The Lady Railsplitters would keep the aggressive mindset to start the second half. Despite several attempts coming up empty,
Alicia Bevins would score again in the 76th minute to put LMU up 2-1. Shortly after, Bevins would add to her point total through an assist for
Ellie Bowen to score, putting Lincoln Memorial up 3-1, which would remain the score until the final whistle. LMU would win the match with 13 of 19 total shots being on goal and maintaining possession for the majority of the contest.
Lincoln Memorial moves to 6-2-1 on the season, 2-0-1 in SAC play. They will be back in action on Saturday, September 30th, to take on Coker University in Harrogate, TN at 1 PM with the men's game to follow.Â
